Continuing the Battle for Christ – Week 14

How should we respond to persecution?

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (I Timothy 2:1,2 NIV84).

Pray for those in leadership positions throughout the world, but especially in those nations where Satan has a foothold.  Pray that they will allow the Word to be shared freely and that each of those individuals would be gripped by the love of Christ.

How should we pray for the lost?

“… Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’” (John 8:31, 32 NIV84).

Those who are lost are captives of Satan and sin.  Pray that they will come to know the one true Deliverer, the only one who can set them free.  Pray that they will be confronted with the Truth of the Gospel message and become truly free from their bondage.

Leadership Prayer Focus This Week: Vice-President

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.  The authorities that exist have been established by God” (Romans 13:1 NIV84).

In contrast to the President, the Vice-President has little or no power, except whatever is delegated to him by the President.  His primary role is to be prepared to take the helm in the event of a disaster.

Pray that: Even in waiting, he serves at God’s pleasure and for God’s purpose.

He will stay alert and prepared.

He will serve with honesty and integrity.

He will look to God for guidance, whether in waiting or leading.

For all our leaders, pray that if they do not already know Christ, they will accept Him as Lord.  For those who do know Christ, pray that they will stand firm on His Truth and His Word, never compromising it or minimizing it.

“Pray continuously” (I Thessalonians 5:17 NIV84)
