Day 21: Produce Fruit!

Day 21: Produce Fruit – Peace

  Read and Meditate on:           Isaiah 11: 1 - 9

                                                      John 14: 27

                                                      Philippians 4: 6 – 9

Several years ago, there was a popular song that included this line: “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.”[1] That’s a notable sentiment but not a very practical one.  The reality is that world “peace” is not possible by human effort alone.  As long as there are people, there will be conflict and war.  It is only through Christ that we can achieve true “peace”.

Christ tells us that the “peace” that He gives is not the same as the “peace” that the world desires.   Paul tells us that Christ’s “peace” is beyond all understanding.  In other words, the world doesn’t have a clue as to the kind of peace that Christ can give.  His “peace” is an inner tranquility or calmness based on our relationship with Him.

I’ve experienced that peace on a couple of occasions, and both times He gave me peaceful sleep despite a dangerous situation over which I had no control.  From a worldly standpoint, my reaction was absurd.  I should have been nervous, uneasy, and maybe even a little hysterical.   Those would have been “normal” reactions.  Instead, I felt the “peace” that passes all understanding and slept without a care in the world.

The Holy Spirit can help you find that same “peace”.  Ask Him today!

Adoration:

Confession:

Thanksgiving:

Supplication:

Father, thank you for the gift of peace. Holy Spirit, help me to find that peace in my own life so that during every storm, I will lean on my God and my refuge.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
