Day 17: God's Teachings

Day 17: Hide God’s Teachings in Your Heart

Read and Meditate on:        Deuteronomy 11: 18 – 21

                                                      Isaiah 55: 11

                                                      Matthew 13: 18 – 43

For several years now, I’ve been part of a Scripture Memorization group that meets weekly.  Together, we have studied and memorized numerous verses and even a few complete chapters of the Bible.  It hasn’t been easy; it’s taken a lot of work, but it has been well worth the effort.  While I may not always quote the verses exactly, I recall enough to be able to rest in His Word.  I have been able to not just “hide” His Word in my heart; I have been able to find my strength in His Word and His promises.

Plant the seed of His Word in your heart and allow it to grow.  Begin today to focus on one or two of your favorite verses and commit them to memory.  Study them when you are waiting in traffic; write them on your bathroom mirror; carry them with you as you go about your daily tasks.  Better yet, challenge a few of your friends to join you in memorizing scripture.  You won’t regret the time or the effort.  His Word never returns void.  As you study His Word, He will bless your efforts.

Supplication:

Father, help me to hide Your Word in my heart so it will be a constant guide to my path.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
