My 100th Blog!
Believe it or not, this is my 100th blog post. When I began this project at the end of September 2022, I was still looking for purpose after my retirement. Writing has always been an interest of mine, and over the years, I have accumulated notebooks and notes of various things that I have written. Nothing sensational. No publishing credits so far, but often I read a verse or hear a line on TV and my creative juices start to flow, so a blog seemed to be a good way to help put purpose back into my life.
I never
expected to have a huge following or make money from this blog. That wasn’t my purpose, which is a good thing
since on a great day, maybe 15 people read it.
On an average day, two people read it.
So, you might be thinking, “Why bother?”
After all, it generally takes me at least an hour, usually more, to
write, rewrite, edit, and post. That’s
time I could use reading a good book or taking a nap.
So why do
I keep doing this? I do it for several
reasons.
First, if
just one person reads one of my posts and is moved closer to Christ in some
way, then it will be worth every minute.
I firmly believe that God gives me the ideas that I write because they
couldn’t come this easily without Him, so He must have a purpose for them.
Secondly,
I once read the following quote: “The goal of writing is to commune with God,
not to get a book published.” Every time
I sit down to write a blog, I find myself engrossed in Scripture, checking
first one passage and then another, striving to understand God’s Word
better. Who knows? Maybe that’s His whole point – to draw me
closer to Him. If so, it’s working.
Finally, I
recently read a Facebook post from one of my cousins. He reminded me of I Peter 4:10 which
challenges us to use our gifts to serve others.
I believe that is part of my purpose in writing these blogs, and I trust
that God will make sure that the right people are served by them.
As long as
God keeps inspiring me, I’ll keep writing.
I hope at least one of my posts will inspire you too.
