Come and See Amazing Things!
In my last blog, I talked about the phrase “Come and see.” Today, I want to follow through on that from another perspective. When was the last time that you invited someone to “Come and see” what God has done in your life?
Psalms 46
and 66 both speak of coming to see the amazing things that God has done. If you stop to think about the amazing things
that God has done in your own life, it’s almost like counting your blessings.
I’ll
recount a few of the “amazing things” that He has done in my life, not to seek
honor or praise for myself but to show it’s all about Him. Everything that I have ever accomplished,
everything that I have, I owe to Him. He
has truly done amazing things in my life.
First, He
placed me in a Christian home with parents who were faithful in their belief in
Christ. Church was not an option and
that allowed me to encounter a long list of Godly men and women who taught me
about my Savior and helped to make me into the woman that I am today. Unfortunately, too many young families do not
understand the importance of making sure that their children are introduced to
Jesus in their formative years.
God also
gave me certain talents and abilities which lead to opportunities for service
in His Kingdom. I began teaching a
sixth-grade Sunday School class when I was in college, and I have continued to
teach for most of my adult life, although the students have gotten a little
older. My law career led to
opportunities to work with Louisville Bible College and with many
churches. Those experiences lead to
teaching college-level courses on legal issues that affect churches. They also allowed me to spend 20-plus years
as the Business Administrator at my Church.
I consider all those opportunities as great blessings and privileges –
amazing things that God has done in my life.
He has
also blessed me by surrounding me with people who love me, some related by
blood, and many more who make up my spiritual family. Together, those folks provide laughter,
encouragement, accountability, and blessings galore.
These are
only a few of the amazing things that God has done in my life. I can’t begin to tell you about the problems
that He has solved or the messes that He has rescued me from, or the mercy He
has shown me.
My
questions for both you and me are:
How often
do we thank God for those amazing things that He does in each of our lives?
When was
the last time that we invited someone to “Come and see” those amazing things?
When the
Queen of Sheba came to visit King Solomon, she said that she would not have
believed the extent of his wisdom and wealth if she hadn’t come to see it for
herself. However, she wasn’t just amazed
at what he had and the wisdom that he showed, she knew that it was all the
result of God’s hand on his life. She
said, “Praise be to the Lord, your God, who has delighted in you” (I Kings
10:9a NIV84).
May we
live lives that invite others to “Come and see” the amazing things that God has
done and continues to do in our lives.
May they sing His praises through all the earth!

66
